Finally Here!

To Our Dearest Families, Friends, and Congregations,

This has been a trip nine months in the making, and much like the joy of receiving a newborn child, we are in awe of everything we have seen, and are excited for what we will be seeing in the coming days.

All initial flights went smoothly -team members flew in from Colorado, Texas, Montana, and Michigan-and we all met at Gate C44 at the Houston Airport twenty minutes before boarding began. It was an uneventful flight that led to figuring out the on-line customs form to fill out before checking in with passports, which we all made sure were stamped, because hey...that's the point of passports, right?

Going through customs and getting all of those bags with eyeglasses checked, and paperwork looked over, was a bit nerve wracking, but praise be to God!  We did not have to pay a single lempira for what we were bringing with us for the eyeglass clinics!

We headed to Hotel Del Angel for a delicious lunch of chicken, rice, and veggies then stopped at La Paz to visit with Pastor Junior and his wife, Rosa. What a beautiful church! The doors leading into the sanctuary were especially beautiful to our Lutheran hearts.

This church has been an on-going project for the last eight years, with it being dedicated on February 13, 2022. Pastor Junior not only serves here, but at two other Lutheran churches, one of them about four hours away.

With the ten new pastors recently graduated from the Dominican Republic Seminary, and several deaconesses, please pray for God's call to bring partners in ministry for Pastor Junior in His time.

Family and friends, the harvest is plentiful here, so let us pray for the continuation of laborers to join in the kingdom work!

The trip to our hotel was quite long...and high -4900 feet above sea level!  At one point, we were pretty sure we would have to get out and push the bus up the hill, but grace be to God, Joel (our driver) believed it could and it did!

On a side note...not a single pothole! These Honduras mountainside highways are smooth sailing...well, except for the incline, that is.

The sights here are amazing...lots of green stuff for some of our people, and the weather is a perfect 77 degrees with 68% humidity.

Houses are built right up against the mountain sides, and we couldn't help but wonder how exactly people got to their homes...we couldn't see any roads, but surely there must be some, right?

We've all checked into our rooms (which are very nice) and are resting before dinner at 7pm.

Tomorrow, we will be...well, we have yet to discuss what the plans are, so you'll find out tomorrow what will take place. One thing for sure...God will go before us as He has done from the beginning of this mission trip, which was started about this time, sometime last year.

To God be the glory in all we do and all we experience, for He is the One Who will bring this to completion!

As you wait for our return, we ask you to pray over us each day, so we may accomplish what God has called us to do while we're here. Let your prayers be:

* That God would be glorified by every aspect of our trip (Matthew 5:16)

* For each of us, and for every person we will reach and work with, that a personal and powerful encounter with God be had (Hebrews 4:12)

* For the unconditional love of God to radiate in and through each of our actions, words, and lives (John 13:35)

* For God to place a hedge of protection around our entire team (2 Thessalonians 3:3)

* For Satan to be bound and kept from anything that may distract anyone from hearing the voice of God (Romans 16:20)

* For each of us to be led by the Holy Spirit in His time and for His will (Romans 8:14; Galatians 5:16)

* For God to give us strength and good health throughout the trip (Philippians 4:19)

* For God to protect and provide for our families back home (1 Peter 5:7)

* For God to give wisdom to those of us who speak and teach as we share the Gospel (Romans 10:14)

* For all of us, and for those who translate, to be bold and creative in sharing our faith (Colossians 4:4)

* That we would make quick adjustments to time and cultural changes (James 1:2-4)

* For God to open doors and hearts to receive the Gospel as we minister to them in their place of service (Colossians 4:3)

Until tomorrow, beloved families and friends!

"As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear Him." ~ Psalm 103:13
